Just imagine… You are in a place as beautiful as the most pleasant one in Paradise.
Around you – vast green expanses, split by long and limpid rivers. You take pleasure in the resonant songs of rare kinds of
birds… Wherever you look – there are lots of beautiful flowers as if they narrate the great story of the ancient place by
their wealth of colour…
In fact – don’t imagine… I am not writing about a fantastic place in Paradise –
I’ve just mentioned some of the beauties of my native place – The Rhodopes.
It is a magic mountain and a brilliant European future is reserved for my native
place. You may ask why I think so? Europe receives our region with open arms firstly because of its heavenly nature and
the perfect opportunity of developing tourism. Settlements, such as Shiroka Luka, Stoykite, Momchilovtzi, Gela, Mogilitza
and other picturesque Rhodope villages have proved that tourism is well developed in my native place.
Pamporovo is the nearest ski resort and over the past 30 years tourism of my native
place has been mainly concentrated in it. The construction of hotels and other tourist facilities has been encouraged by
projects of the European Union.
Another thing that is favourable of the European future of The Rhodopes is the
kindness and hospitality of the mountain inhabitants. They are always ready to take part in different European joint
projects which will promote Bulgarian integration in Europe. We all know about the activated project of building a
checkpoint on the borderline between Rudozem and Ksanti. This will be a great opportunity for Bulgarians and Greeks to
know each other better and exchange experience, on the one hand and on the other hand this project will contribute to
the European future of my native place.
In conclusion, I will say that it seems like a blessing from God to live in
The Rhodopes, moreover a great European future is in store for this place. But we all should know that everybody is
able to contribute to the realization of this European future. We shouldn’t stay apathetically. The more people take part,
the better.

ПГИ „КАРЛ МАРКС”, 10 „б” клас     I enjoy seeing the stars. Every night I open the window and watch the sky. I believe
that there are people on other planets and they also watch our planet, they can watch me and I know they also love my native
place. They also enjoy seeing our mountains, our lakes, they want very much to feel our clear air, to feel our sun. It is my
native place, it is Smolyan.
In the future Smolyan will be bigger than now. There will be more modern companies.
Smolyan will be a big tourist centre. There will be more jobs. But I think the most important thing is to save our traditions,
the things that make us unique.
Relations with other European countries will be bigger than now. There will be built
more universities. Young people will have jobs and will work very hard. But at the end of the week they will walk in the
mountains, will listen how the wind whistles in the trees leaves and will see, the blue sky. I hope in the future transport
will be better than now and will not pollute our nature so much. Smolyan will be a big tourist centre, because it is
beautiful
in all seasons. I will remember for ever the trees in the spring, the lakes in the summer, the mountains in the autumn-they
are like a fire, in the winter-everything is white and so calm.
I think people here should not change themselves at all. They should remain polite
and help other people when they need it and be as kind as now. We should save our traditions - the things we do at Sirni
agovezni or at Christmas for example. I hope our European future will be good for us.
I want in the future my children and my grand-children to love my native place in
the same way I love it now and also to enjoy seeing the stars.
