THE PATRON
Nikolay Vranchev was born on 20th, January, 1882 in Ustovo (now a district of Smolyan) . He takes a well- deserved place in the spiritual history of the Rhodopes .
The most important literary work of Vranchev- library ‘Ralitsa’ was issued in sequel for tens of years during his lifetime. It was intended largely for students from the senior classes.
The string started to come out with the translation of ‘Persians’ from Eshile and reached 50 headlines.
The separate books can be grouped in three sorts:
• Translations on entire belletristic writings: ‘Persians’, ‘King Lear’, ‘Child Harold’, ‘Faust’, ‘Hell’, ‘Manfred’, ‘Macbeth’, ‘Hamlet’, ‘Tartuffe’, ‘Evgeni Onegin’, ’Wilhelm Tell’, etc.
• The best from some separate works: ‘The song of Roland’, ‘Eneida’, ‘Don Kihot’, etc.
• Poems of our Bulgarian poets and writers: ‘The poetry of Hristo Botev’, ‘The lyric of Ivan Vazov’, ‘The poetry of Petko Slaveikov’, etc.
Library ‘Ralitsa’ ends with full translation
in verses of ‘ Iliad’ and ‘ Odyssey’ in Hellenic which stands out as a flower of the interpreter activity of Vranchev.
The next sequence - library ‘Fun and moral’ / 1924-1943 / takes a significant place in the multiform literary deed of Vranchev.
Mainly in ‘Rhodopes thought’, ‘Heights’ , ‘Krasnogor’ newspapers, etc. Vranchev leaves an enviable publicistic heritage that excels with its actuality and burning questions, with its sharply policy – making quality with the depth and the multiform of various problems that stirred him.
The literary- creative portrait of Nikolay Vtanchev would not be completely accomplished if his personal deed was not added as well. It is not so volumetric and vast, as his interpreter trial is – largely the books: ‘On the heights of Orpheus’ , ‘On the heights of Rhodopes’, ‘Where the lemons bloom there’, ‘At home’, etc.
